The City of Joliet Police Department issued the following announcement on March 21.
W. Washington Street between, S. Des Plaines Street and S. Joliet Street, will be closed to all traffic during the hours of 7:00 pm to 7:00 am each day, beginning on Thursday, March 21, 2019. The nightly road closures on W. Washington Street will last approximately 15 days and should be reopened by April 5th, 2019. Any pedestrians entering or leaving Joliet City Hall or the Joliet Police Station are encouraged to use crosswalks outside the work zone. During daytime hours the excavation will be covered with steel plates which can become slippery during wet or frozen conditions.
