Lincoln-Way East's Jack Baltz commits to ISU
Lincoln-Way East star quarterback Jack Baltz has committed to attend Illinois State.
The 6-5, 190-pound senior recently made his decision public by singing the praises of the ISU program.
“I love it there,” he told the Chicago Tribune. “The whole staff are just amazing people. I think we have a good opportunity of winning a national championship with them, and I’m just really excited about what’s to come.”
Baltz hinted he is now hopeful that having made his college decision so early in the season will allow him to focus more on his final Griffins’ season, which has gotten off to a sterling (4-0, 2-0) Southwest Suburban League start.
“I’m just glad I’ll get another four years to play college football,” he told the Tribune. “Now, I get to enjoy and focus on this more.”
Lincoln-Way East coach Rob Zvonar has long been one of Baltz’s biggest supporters.
“We’re so happy for Jack,” he said. “He’s a tremendously high-character young man. He moved from Alabama a couple of years ago and has made his mark up here. We’re very happy for him and for his family.”
