Park Forest residents have selected “Scoop Dogg” as the name for one of the village’s snowplows through the second annual Name the Plow contest. The entry, inspired by rapper Snoop Dogg, received 16 votes and was announced as this year’s winner during the week of December 1.

The contest ran from October 27 to November 7, allowing residents to submit their suggestions. A total of 19 names were submitted. Public Works staff reviewed all submissions and chose ten finalists on November 10. Community voting on these finalists took place between November 11 and November 25.

“Scoop Dogg” emerged as the top choice among community members, while “Mr. Salty” was the runner-up with six votes. Other finalist names included “Sleet Caroline,” “Frostradamus,” “Frosty Flakes,” “The Snow Wave,” “Live, ‘Snow,’ Discover,” “Scoop Dog,” “The Grinch,” “Plow-Nado,” and “Chow Down.”

Public Works Director Roderick Ysaguirre said, “We wanted to create something that helps residents engage with Public Works and the services we provide. It’s a lighthearted way for the community to get involved.”

This annual naming contest began in Park Forest in 2024. Last year’s winning name, “Snowbegone Kenobi,” is already featured on one of the village’s plows.

Following this year’s vote, “Scoop Dogg” will soon appear on a Public Works snowplow. The resident who suggested the winning name will be publicly recognized and have a photo taken with the newly named vehicle.
