Frankfort, IL – Ruth R. Johnson (nee Richardson), 92, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2025, in Frankfort. Born in Thompsonville, IL, to William and Hallie Richardson, Ruth was the beloved wife of the late Rev. William G. Johnson. She is survived by her loving children, Jan (Michael) Rizzuto, and late Bradley (Carol) Johnson, and grandchildren, Michael (Gayle) Rizzuto and Emily (Bill) Glegg. Ruth was also a proud great-grandmother to several great-grandchildren.

Ruth retired from the United Methodist Church Northern Illinois Conference Headquarters in 1992 after 23 years of service. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church of New Lenox, participating in various church activities, including the choir, bible study, women’s circle, and mission trips, where she shared her kindness and generous spirit with others.

Ruth’s commitment to her faith and her family was unwavering. Known as “Gam” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was the heart of her family, always ready to share joy and love with those around her, even into her 90s.

A visitation and funeral service will take place at United Methodist Church of New Lenox in New Lenox, IL, on Tuesday, June 10th, with interment to follow at Maplewood Cemetery. Ruth will be remembered for her light and love by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
