State Representative Patrick Sheehan, a Republican and current member of the Illinois House representing the 37th District, has issued multiple statements via social media calling for Governor J.B. Pritzker to take action following violent protests at the Broadview ICE facility.
On November 15, 2025, Sheehan posted a statement: “FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Rep. Sheehan: Governor Pritzker Needs to Protect Law Enforcement
Springfield, IL – In response to this morning’s violent protests at the Broadview ICE facility, State Representatives John Cabello, Patrick Sheehan, and Dennis Tipsword, all current law https://t.co/NHPkoMygir“.
Two days later, on November 17, he reiterated his concerns with another statement: “FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Sheehan: Governor Must Step in After Broadview Violence Against Police
Homer Glen, IL…State Representative Patrick Sheehan, an active-duty law-enforcement officer of nearly 20 years and member of the Illinois House, has responded to the violent protests https://t.co/w7cOsscSIP“.
Later that same day, Sheehan directly criticized Governor Pritzker’s rhetoric regarding protest activity and its impact on law enforcement officers. He wrote: “Governor Pritzker called on his supporters to be street fighters, our cops paid the price. The violence against our law enforcement officers in Broadview crossed every line. Enough is enough!
@ILGOP https://t.co/pQRyBz16Jt“.
Sheehan was elected to the Illinois State House in 2024 after replacing former representative Tim Ozinga. In addition to his legislative duties, he is an active-duty law enforcement officer with nearly two decades of experience.
The recent comments come after reports of violence during demonstrations at the Broadview ICE facility in Illinois—a recurring flashpoint for protests related to immigration enforcement policies in the state.
