The Village of Park Forest Board of Trustees is set to hold a Rules and Special Regular Meeting on June 9 at 7 p.m. at the Village Hall located at 350 Victory Drive. The meeting will feature a public hearing on the proposed Fiscal Year 2025-2026 budget, alongside discussions on various ordinances and contracts.

The session will commence with a public hearing regarding the budget for the fiscal year starting July 1, 2025, and ending June 30, 2026. This budget has been under review since early May and outlines the financial plan of the Village, including revenue projections and expenditure allocations. Notably, the General Fund budget is balanced with a projected surplus exceeding $1.1 million. The budget seeks to tackle major financial challenges by evaluating core versus non-core services through a triple bottom line approach that considers social, environmental, and financial impacts.

Following this hearing, several key ordinances and resolutions will be considered by the Board:

– An ordinance proposing Municipal Grocery Retailers’ Occupation Tax and Municipal Grocery Service Occupation Tax.
– A resolution authorizing a public auction sale of personal property owned by the Village.
– A resolution amending participation in Illinois Housing Development Authority’s Strong Community Program.

The Board will also deliberate on infrastructure-related contracts and agreements:

– Contract for LED sign installation on Western Avenue.
– Contract for floor installation at 361 Artist Walk.
– Fiscal 2026 project involving conduit installation for street light repairs.
– Procurement of repair sleeves for water main maintenance.
– Central Basin CIPP sanitary sewer lining project.
– Engineering services agreement for Chestnut Street Lift Station replacement design.

Residents are encouraged to attend to provide input during the public hearing and stay informed about village plans. Meeting agendas and documents are available on both the official website of Park Forest Village and at Village Hall. Those needing accommodations should contact the Village Manager’s Office at least two days prior to participate effectively.
