The Park Forest Board of Trustees will address several economic development and operational issues during its regular meeting scheduled for April 6 at Village Hall.
The agenda includes a final reading of an ordinance that would amend the village’s liquor license limits to allow a new bar, Libations, to open at 311 Main Street. The applicant, Antonio Burgess, who operates a tavern in Phoenix, is seeking a Class A license for this new business in Park Forest.
Trustees are also set to consider supporting a Cook County Class 6B tax incentive for Champion Silk Screen and Embroidery at 56 South Street. This incentive is intended to help retain local businesses by reducing property tax assessments in exchange for commitments such as payment-in-lieu-of-taxes and community benefits. Champion Silk Screen and Embroidery has been operating in Park Forest since 1989 and employs thirteen people.
Other items on the agenda include awarding contracts for roofing and construction work at 356 Minocqua Street under the South Suburban Trades Initiative program. The board will review the purchase of a skid steer for the Parks Department with an estimated cost of $60,700. Landscape maintenance contract renewals totaling over $86,000 will also be considered alongside authorizing payment for emergency water main repairs completed earlier this year.
Additional matters include accepting about $45,600 from a legal settlement related to municipal bond overcharges and approving disposal of surplus village property such as vehicles and equipment. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at Village Hall located at 350 Victory Drive.
