Homeowners in New Lenox paid property taxes amounting to 2.2% of their home’s value in the fourth quarter of 2025, which is more than 2.4 times the national average, according to BlockShopper.com.

During that period, the median sales price for a New Lenox residence was $418,000, based on 90 properties sold. In 2025, the city’s median property tax bill stood at $9,071, or 2.2% of the median taxable property value.

The average effective property tax rate nationwide was 0.888% in 2024.

Within Will County, Wilton, Park Forest, and University Park recorded the three highest effective property tax rates.
