According to data for the 396 homes sold in this period, Joliet’s median sales price reached $255,750. The city’s median property tax bill in 2025 was $5,537, which makes up 2.2% of the median taxed property value.

The average effective property tax rate across the U.S. stood at 0.888% in 2024.

Within Will County, Wilton, Park Forest and University Park posted the highest property tax rates among cities.
