Samuel Lawrence Klusman Parks, an American actor, passed away from a heart attack on April 13, 1975, at the age of 60. Born in Olathe, Kansas, Parks was raised in Joliet, Illinois, and graduated from Joliet Township High School in 1932. He began his career in stock theater before relocating to Hollywood in the 1940s. Parks gained recognition for his role as Al Jolson in The Jolson Story (1946) and its sequel, Jolson Sings Again (1949). His career was disrupted when he was blacklisted after admitting involvement in a Communist Party cell, resulting in his dismissal from Hollywood studios. Despite this obstacle, he continued to perform in television and stage productions. Later in life, Parks transitioned to a successful career in real estate. He maintained strong ties to his hometown of Joliet throughout his life. Parks died in 1975, but his contributions to acting and his connection to Joliet continue to be remembered.
