A fallen tree blocked the southbound lanes on Main Street at Burville Road and brought down power lines just north of Smoky Jo’s, according to a March 13 alert. Main Street is closed between Burville Road and Crete Boulevard while crews work to secure the area.

The closure affects traffic flow through a key section of the village, requiring drivers to use alternate routes. Officials urge motorists to exercise caution near the affected area as emergency personnel respond to the incident.

The incident occurred during high winds, which may have contributed to the tree falling and damaging utility infrastructure. Residents are advised to secure any loose outdoor items to prevent further damage or injury during ongoing windy conditions.

Authorities have not provided an estimated time for reopening Main Street but say they will update residents as soon as it is safe. The situation highlights the importance of preparedness during severe weather events.
