Several members of the Crete Emergency Management Agency were recognized on Mar. 30 for their volunteer service during the past year, according to a statement from EMA Director Ryan Allison at the most recent Village of Crete Board Meeting.

The recognition highlighted that each honored member contributed more than 100 hours in service to the community throughout 2025. The volunteers and their logged hours include Deputy Director Vanderaa with 156 hours, Captain Blake with 278.25 hours, Sergeant Skaggs with 144 hours, Responder Walters with 186.5 hours, Responder Muir with 101 hours, and Responder Gordon who completed 230 hours.

In addition to these recognitions, special mention was given to Responder Slover. Although Slover joined in July of last year, he has already contributed over seventy-two hours of volunteer work.

Allison said that Crete EMA depends on its volunteers and noted that these recorded hours represent significant personal commitment: “These hours represent late nights, early mornings, and answering the call when others can’t. Thank you for your service.”

Volunteer contributions like those recognized at this meeting are considered essential for maintaining emergency response capabilities within local communities such as Crete.

Looking ahead, agency officials say they hope continued community involvement will ensure strong support for future emergency management efforts.
