City of Wilmington Planning & Zoning Commission met Jan. 8.

Here are the minutes provided by the commission:

Call to Order

The January 8, 2026 meeting of the Wilmington Planning & Zoning Commission was called to order at 5:01 p.m. by Chairperson Shell.

Roll Call

Upon Roll Call by the Clerk the following members answered “Here” or “Present”:

Commissioners Present Shell, Clennon, Longest, Francis, Kempes, Skoryi

Commissioners Absent Smith

Quorum

A sufficient number of members of the corporate authorities were in attendance to constitute a quorum, so the meeting was declared in order.

Other Officials in Attendance

Also, in attendance were City Administrator Jeannine Smith and Mayor Ben Dietz

Approve the Previous Meeting Minutes

Commissioner Clennon made a motion and Commissioner Longest seconded to approve the November 6, 2025 meeting minutes with the necessary correction and have them placed on file.

Upon roll call, the vote was:

AYES: 6 Clennon, Longest, Francis, Kempes, Skoryi, Shell

NAYS: 0

ABSENT: 1 Smith

Motion passed.

Commissioner Clennon made a motion and Commissioner Francis seconded to approve the December 4, 2025 meeting minutes and have them placed on file.

Upon roll call, the vote was:

AYES: 6 Clennon, Longest, Francis, Kempes, Skoryi, Shell

NAYS: 0

ABSENT: 1 Smith

Motion passed.

Public Comment

Public Comment #1 (unknown speaker) commented on the proposed solar farm on Rivals Road.

Text Amendment Review

City Administrator Smith and the Commission conducted a workshop focused on amendments to the zoning code.

Other Pertinent Information

No other pertinent information was discussed.

Adjournment

A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Commissioner Longest and seconded by Commissioner Clennon.

Upon voice vote, the motion was carried. The Wilmington Planning & Zoning meeting held on January 8, 2026, adjourned at 8:13 p.m.
