The Silver Cross Foundation announced on April 15 a donation of $560,000 from Childerguild to support women’s and children’s services at Silver Cross Hospital. The contribution will be used for advanced technology, patient care equipment, and clinical education aimed at benefiting women, infants, and families.

This donation is described as transformational by the hospital foundation. Childerguild has been a philanthropic partner of the hospital for more than 115 years through volunteer work, gift shop operations, community events, and charitable giving. The funds were raised through the annual Childerguild Ball as well as gift shop sales and club donations.

Tracy Simons, Executive Director of the Silver Cross Foundation said: “Childerguild’s generosity continues to strengthen the exceptional care we provide to mothers, babies and families throughout the region. Their investment in state‑of‑the‑art equipment and staff development ensures our care teams have the tools they need to deliver the very best outcomes.”

The donation will fund several pieces of essential equipment including fetal monitoring systems and advanced ultrasound machines for the Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinic; maternal & neonatal care patient simulators; continuing education programs; breastfeeding support pillows; mattresses for newborns with Neonatal Opioid Withdrawal Syndrome in the NICU; a suction machine for gynecological conditions; a breast ultrasound machine; and an X-ray machine for urgent care in Lemont.

Rita Larson, President of Childerguild said: “These investments will have a direct and lasting impact on patient safety, diagnostic accuracy and family-centered care. We are honored to support the hospital’s evolving needs and uphold our mission of caring for women and children.”

The gift reflects ongoing efforts by both organizations to improve healthcare services available to local families.
