During the fourth quarter of 2025, Braidwood homeowners paid property taxes amounting to 2% of their home values—more than 2.2 times the U.S. average, BlockShopper.com reports.

Data from the 39 properties sold in that period show the median sale price in Braidwood reached $175,000. For 2025, the city’s median property tax bill was $3,422, matching 2% of the median taxed home’s value.

The average effective property tax rate nationwide stood at 0.888% in 2024.

Wilton, Park Forest, and University Park reported the highest property tax rates in Will County.
