Beecher FPD responds to 88 fires in 2018

Beecher Fire Protection District responded to 156 calls in 2018 - 17.3 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Beecher included 88 fires - 55 structure fires, six vehicle fires and 27 other fires. The fire department also responded to four calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $325,870 in fire loss - or about $3,703 per fire.

The department also received 64 false calls, including four malicious calls and 60 other false calls.

The calls resulted in two civilian fire-related injuries.

The Beecher Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $1,955,255 in 2018.
