The City of Joliet Police Department issued the following announcement on July 31.
As a follow up to Joliet Police Department’s post on ruse burglaries, we would like to share what our City of Joliet Meter Readers wear and drive. All City vehicles are marked with “City of Joliet” and include the City Seal and department name. The vehicles also have an ID # on them. These employees wear yellow fluorescent shirts with the City Seal and “Joliet Meter Reader” on the back. They will also have a City ID with their name, title, and department. If you are unsure someone at your door is an actual City of Joliet employee, please don’t hesitate to call the Joliet Police Non-Emergency number:t 815-726-2491 or City of Joliet Information Desk: 815-724-4000.
