City of Wilmington issued the following announcement on June 24.
We regret to inform our community that our National Night Out event scheduled for August 4, 2020 has been cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns. As much as we were looking forward to the best NNO ever, we feel it is the responsible thing to do at this point during a pandemic.
For the past several years this free event has been a summer highlight for our department and a great way to interact with our community, friends and family. We say free, but in actuality the costs of the event are donated not only with money, food, and gifts from our amazing businesses, but also in time, energy, and love by and from our community. Those donations and spirit of community is what makes Wilmington a great place to live, work, and enjoy.
As we recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and work to rebuild from the toll taken, we ask you to support those businesses and families that have supported our event each and every year:
