Beecher Community Unit School District 200U Board of Education Personnel Committee met Oct. 7.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm with committee members, Papas; chairman, Hermen present. Hernandez served as alternate in the absence of Dousias.

Others in attendance: Brad Cox, Marla Heldt, J. Karla Wcisel, Vicki Rauch, Tammy Wehling, Jennifer Bunte, Brandon Stadt, Vicki Ploense, Kacy Malecha, Adriana Diachenko, Debbie Hermanson, Julie Cleary, and Kathy Landis

During Public Comment, J. Karla Wcisel expressed her concern with the classified draft handbook to be discussed.

Superintendent Cox provided and explained classified employee compensation information after meeting weekly with employees and receiving input. Discussion took place. The Committee requested Mr. Cox to revise the information to reflect a less financial impact on the district. Papas disagreed to a revision. The information will be provided to the full Board for further discussion and possible approval.

Superintendent Cox provided the committee a draft employee handbook to review. Several areas of the handbook were discussed. The consensus was to be given more time to review the handbook and discuss further at another Personnel committee meeting.

During Public Comment, Jennifer Bunte commented on the salary information as favorable. Adrianna Diachenko expressed her disappointment with the hesitation of the salary increase approval. Kathy Landis agreed that the increases were reasonable and in line with area schools. J. Karla Wcisel commented on the financial information provided and again her concerns with the draft handbook. Vicki Rauch requested the qualifications required for a para pro.

The meeting adjourned at 7:38 pm.
