City of Wilmington City Council met May 28.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

Call to Order

The Special Meeting of the Wilmington City Council on May 28, 2019 was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Mayor Roy Strong in the Council Chambers of the Wilmington City Hall.

Roll Call

Upon Roll Call by the Clerk the following members of the corporate authorities answered “Here” or “Present”: Aldermen Present Persic, Butler, Studer, Vice, Dietz, Tenn, Kirwin (arrived at 6:03 p.m.)

Alderman Absent Combes

Quorum

There being a sufficient number of members of the corporate authorities in attendance to constitute a quorum, the meeting was declared in order.

Other Officials in Attendance

Also, in attendance were the City Administrator/Deputy City Clerk Joie Ziller and Police Chief Phillip Arnold

Alderman Studer made the motion and Alderman Butler seconded to approve the hire of Eric Runions as a Patrolman for the Police Department as classified in the Metropolitan Alliance of Police Chapter #129, conditional upon final evaluation

Upon roll call, the vote was:

AYES: 5 Studer, Butler, Persic, Vice, Tenn

NAYES: 1 Dietz

ABSENT: 2 Combes, Kirwin

The motion carried.

Mayor Strong swore in Police Officer Eric Runions.

Alderman Kirwin entered the meeting at 6:03 p.m.

No public comment was made

Executive Session

Executive session was not needed

Adjournment

Motion to adjourn the meeting made by Alderman Studer and seconded by Alderman Butler. Upon voice vote, the motion carried. The Special Meeting of the City of Wilmington City Council held on May 28, 2019 adjourned at 6:04 p.m.
