Peotone FD responds to 97 fires in 2017

Peotone Fire Department responded to 219 calls in 2017 - 2.3 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Peotone included 97 fires - 66 structure fires, 12 vehicle fires and 19 other fires.

In all, the department saw $417,759 in fire loss - or about $4,307 per fire.

The department also received 122 false calls, including one malicious call and 121 other false calls.

The Peotone Fire Department had an annual budget of $2,112,073 in 2017.

The Peotone FPD Firefighters Pension Fund, which has two active employees and one retired or inactive employee, was $10,826 positive as of April 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $110 for every fire in 2016.
