The price of local government: Village of Shorewood

The village of Shorewood budget was $45.95 million for its 2015 fiscal year, or $7,520.44 per household.

That's an increase of 33.1 percent from 2014 when the village spent $34.51 million, or $5,648.44 per household.

Shorewood has 6,110 households and a population of 15,615.

Since 2001, the village of Shorewood budget has grown by 342 percent, from $10.39 million. The village population has grown 103.2 percent over the same period, from 7,686.

Salaries accounted for 10.6 percent of village spending in 2015. Shorewood property taxpayers paid $4.87 million for 61 full-time employees and three part-time employees.
