The new village of Mokena Board of Trustees met Jan. 9 to introduce the village historian.

CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Fleischer called the Board of Trustees Work Session to order at 7:26 p.m.

Trustee Joseph Budzyn was absent.
Also present were: Village Clerk Patricia Patt; Village Administrator John Tomasoski;
Finance Director Barb Damron; Village Engineer, Paul Pearson; Public Works Director
Lou Tiberi; Police Chief Steve Vaccaro; Assistant Village Administrator Kirk Zoellner;
Community/Economic Development Director Alan Zordan and Village Attorney, Carl
Buck.
Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Request to Re-Dedicate Charles Denny
Grave
Assistant Village Administrator Kirk Zoellner presented the item.
Matt Galik, local Mokena historian, was introduced. He indicated he had recently received
a request from a new chapter of the DAR forming in Homer Glen to re-dedicate the Pioneer
Cemetery grave marker of Charles Denny, a Revolutionary War veteran buried there.
Another chapter of the DAR dedicated the current marker back in 1939.
The Board voiced its support for the re-dedication and suggested it might be coordinated
with other activities planned for the cemetery, such as refurbishment of the World War IIera
“cannon” being undertaken by the Mokena VFW and Mokena’s “Veteran’s Garage”.
Rennology Motor Sports
Alan Zordan presented the background on this case.
Discussion:
The owner of Rennology Motorsports, Richard Swann, addressed concerns raised by
residents at a recent Planning Commission meeting regarding the road testing of
vehicles, outdoot storage of vehicles and the issue of noise.
Residents Marty Nagel and Laura Rusiniak reiterated their concerns with noise related to the
operation of the business.
Mr. Swann invited residents and Board members to visit his current facility in Oak Forest to
hear for themselves that his operations generate little to no noise and will not be disruptive
to the neighboring residential properties.
Trustee Siwinski stated that he was not in favor of granting this special use.
Trustee Metanias felt that the residents had valid concerns and wanted to visit the current
Rennology shop in Oak Forest before taking a position.
It was the consenus of the remaining Board members that there was no need to regulate the
test drives and that some flexibility should be provided with the business hours. The
consensus was that the special use would be acceptable with the following conditions:
That the hours of auto service repair be limited to 8:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday through
Friday and excluding Federal holidays. Other related work such as phone calls and
book keeping could be conducted without limitation.
That the south loading dock door be kept closed at all time unless a delivery was being
made.
That the east overhead doors could be open during the day but must be closed by 5:00
pm.
That all work done on vehicles be done inside the building.
Attorney Carl Buck stated that he would prepare the language for the Special Use
Ordinance.
There being no further matters for the board to consider, Mayor Fleischer adjourned the
work session at 8:45 PM.
