Crete trustees consider fundraising event request

The village of Crete President and Board of Trustees met Feb. 13 to consider a fundraising event request.

CITIZENS SPEAK: Visitors are always welcome to all public meetings of the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Crete. Interested parties wishing to speak should identify their intent to speak, they then may give their name and where they reside if they so choose and then make their comment. Persons may also provide their address privately to the Village Clerk if they so choose, persons are advised that addresses are considered private information under the Freedom of Information Act and thus are exempt from disclosure pursuant to any Freedom of information Act request. However, in order to give proper consideration to all items on the agenda, the President has the authority to limit participants in debates and will close repetitive or abusive remarks.

o Received a letter from the Salvation Army requesting approval to conduct their annual fundraising days as follows: Donut Days Campaign: Friday and Saturday, June 2" and 3" 2017 and Red Kettle Campaign: Monday-Friday, November 1 through December 23, 2017.

OLD BUSINESS:

1. Resolution No. 2017- : A Resolution authorizing the Donation of Certain Real Property to the Village of Steger. In the late 1980's the County of Will transferred certain property to the ownership of the Village of Crete as a part of a tax delinquency case; some of the property parcels were located within the municipal boundaries of the Village of Steger. When the Village of Crete filed to disconnect the Steger parcels, the Village of Steger filed suit against the Village of Crete and the County of Will. As a part of the resolution of that litigation, a portion of the parcels are being transferred to Steger and the remaining parcels are being disconnected from Steger and will be annexed by the Village of Crete. Board action is anticipated.

OLD BUSINESS continued:

2. Resolution No. 2017- : A Resolution authorizing the Execution of a Petition to Disconnect

from the Village of Steger. In the late 1980's the County of Will transferred certain property to the ownership of the Village of Crete as a part of a tax delinquency case, some of the property parcels were located within the municipal boundaries of the Village of Steger. When the Village of Crete filed to disconnect the Steger parcels, the Village of Steger filed suit against the Village of Crete and the County of Will. As a part of the resolution of that litigation, a portion of the parcels are being transferred to Steger and the remaining parcels are being disconnected from Steger and will be annexed by the Village of Crete. Board action is anticipated.

Ordinance 2017- : An Ordinance authorizing the execution of an Intergovernmental Agreement by and Between the Will County 9-1-1 Emergency Telephone System Board and the Village of Crete for the Funding of a 9-1-1 Surcharge Allocation. This is an annual agreement and allows for the Village of Crete to receive a portion of excess 9-1-1 funds received from a tax on telephones levied by the Will County 9-1-1 board. Board action is anticipated.

Presentation by a developer: A conceptual plan/proposal on the North Main Street 55 acres owned by the Village of Crete. Board action may be taken.

NEW BUSINESS:

Appointment of Lynn Weir as Fire Inspector for Crete Fire Department. Board action is anticipated.

Resolution No. 2017.- : A Resolution authorizing the sale of surplus personal property, to wit: 1996 Chevrolet Cheyenne K2500 Truck, VIN# 1 GCGK24R8TZ179305, milleage 132,415. Board action is anticipated.

Discussion on extending the customer's payment period for water billing due dates without incurring penalties from the current 15 (fifteen) days to a proposed 21 (twenty-one) days. Board action is anticipated.
