Joliet Zoning Board of Appeals grants variance requests

The city of Joliet Zoning Board of Appeals met Jan. 19 to grant variance requests.

Here is the meeting's agenda, as provided by the board:

"The Zoning Board of Appeals is responsible for hearing and deciding appeals to the interpretation of the zoning ordinances and requests for special exceptions to, or variations from the regulations of the Zoning Ordinance. The board also holds a public hearing and makes a recommendation to the City Council on petitions for variations of use. The Director of Planning is Secretary to the Zoning Board of Appeals, and petitions may be filed at the Planning Division office."

5. PETITION 2017-02: A Variation of Use to allow an office use (Catholic Charities, Head Start Program) within an R-5 (high density multi-family) zoning district, located at 425 Summit Street.

6. PETITION 2017-03: A Variation to allow an additional wall sign for Marco’s Pizza, located at 2410 Essington Road.

7. PETITION 2017-04: A Variation of Use and a series of variations to allow continuation of two single-family houses on one lot in an R-2 (single-family) zoning district, located at 208 Frank Avenue.

8. PETITION 2017-05: A Variation to allow the addition of an L.E.D. electronic message center to an existing pylon sign, located at 4360 W. Jefferson Street.

9. PETITION 2017-06: A Variation to allow the addition of an L.E.D. message center to future pylon sign, located at 2301 W. Jefferson Street.
